Sheelagh was an umpire tutor, mentor and an ex International umpire and Assessor and served on the Bedford league committee for many years. She has been an inspiration and mentor to many umpires in the Bedford League including Gary Burgess who she continues to mentor when needed!!

She is currently the East President and is now totally involved as a volunteer working on England Netball Archives and that has become her passion.

She was honoured with being awarded an MBE which she received in January 2026 from Princess Anne in Windsor Castle and was the first winner of the B&DNL Blue Ribbon award which we think indicates how much she means to the League and she sees Bedfordshire as her county even though living in Norfolk .
