HEATHER NOLAN

CHAIRWOMAN

I have been involved with the Bedford League for too many years for records to go back to – certainly got my 25 years’ service award! Have had the privilege of being your Chairwoman for the past 14 years – seeing many changes – moving to a central venue, creating our junior and youth leagues, and latterly introducing walking netball.

I managed the England U17 squad for a few years too which was a great experience. Played my way through all the Divisions up to premier and umpired as well. Outside of all that fun I love golf and am a Director of Bedford & County golf club, love travelling and drinking the odd glass of gin or wine!

NATASCHA KELLY

VICE CHAIRWOMAN & WEBSITE ADMIN

I joined the B&DNL committee many years ago as the Website Administrator, and in 2021 I was asked to take on the role of League Secretary too – for my sins! It has been a role that has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. After five years as League Secretary, I’m excited to begin my next chapter as Vice Chair. I have big shoes to fill, but I’ll give it my very best.

I’ve always loved playing netball and played right up until I fell pregnant at 21. As life took over, I stepped away from the sport for a while. In 2014, I signed up for my local Back to Netball sessions and quickly fell in love with the game all over again. When I couldn’t find a team to join, I decided to start my own with the fantastic ladies I met through Back to Netball, and The Majestics was born.

Twelve years later, we’re still going strong and have just secured our third promotion, meaning we’ll be playing in Division 2 of the B&DNL next season. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to seeing what the future holds, both for the team and in my new role as Vice Chair.

JACKIE STIGWOOD

TREASURER

I have been a committee member since 2010 and was appointed as Treasurer at the same time as well as a member on the Umpiring Sub-Committee.

Another of my roles is as the Academy Administrator for Bedfordshire Netball Academy.

My main passion is umpiring and as you know I regularly umpire in this league!

Good luck to you all for the forthcoming season!

JACKIE

HELEN ALLEN

SECRETARY

I am new to the B&DNL Committee, having been the Club Secretary of Great Denham Valkyries for the past 2 years.

I started my netball journey 5 years ago when I went along to Back2Netball in Great Denham, after which Valkyries was formed. I had no intention of joining a team at the ripe old age of 58, especially having been more of a hockey player in my youth and not having played netball since middle school! Thankfully the lovely ladies I’d met over the weeks managed to persuade me to join and as they say – the rest is history! I soon developed a newfound passion for netball and just wish I had found it sooner in my adult life!

In 2024 became Club Secretary of GDV, and I still like to play whenever I can. I’m very much looking forward working with the B&DNL Committee and to supporting the league.

HELEN

TANYA BANEY

MENTORING SECRETARY

I’ve been playing netball for as long as I can remember! After taking a break when I moved from South Africa to the UK, I found my way back onto the court around 10 years ago and haven’t looked back since.

Netball is a huge part of my life. I’m a Level 2 coach with a local club, have been umpiring for the past eight years, and I’m proud to also mentor umpires within the Bedford League. I still play (somewhat reluctantly!) in the Bedford Prem Division, which certainly keeps me on my toes.

I’m really excited to have recently joined the Bedford Netball League Committee and look forward to supporting the league.

RACHAEL STOCKER

UMPIRING SECRETARY

I have been a member of the Bedford & District Netball League committee since September 2021. I initially joined as a committee member before being appointed Umpiring Secretary in 2025.

Netball has been a huge part of my life for over 20 years. During that time, I have captained and managed my own team for several seasons and currently play for Ampthill Amazons. I also compete in both the Heritage and Luton leagues, allowing me to continue developing my game while enjoying the sport at a competitive level.

I have been umpiring for six years and achieved my England Netball C Award in December 2022. I enjoy officiating competitive, well-contested matches and am passionate about supporting high standards of umpiring while helping players and fellow officials enjoy the game.

RACHAEL

JEANETTE JOHNSON

MATCH SECRETARY

I have been part of the B&DNL committee and the umpiring sub-committee for quite a few years now. I used to play and umpire but with to many injuries and 6 children at home I stopped playing and focused on my umpiring.

I now mentor new umpires which I love and find it very rewarding.

VICKI REES

JUNIOR/YOUTH LEAGUE CHAIR

I have been a member of the committee

VICKI

BEV NEWTON

SUMMER LEAGUE & TOURNAMENT ORGANISER

Netball has been a central pillar of my life and a lifelong passion; I am proud to have maintained an uninterrupted playing career since my school years. Joining this dedicated committee provides a welcome opportunity to contribute to the sport that has offered me so much over the decades.

My competitive background began in my hometown of Hull, where I played at both County and Regional levels. Notable career highlights include competing at Wembley in the regional finals with Chevrons Netball Club and representing England in the British Students Sports Event. During this period, I also gained administrative experience as a committee member for Humberside County Netball.

Following my relocation, I have spent the past 25 years competing across the Bedford, Heritage and Luton leagues, whilst recently serving the sport as a qualified ‘C’ award umpire.

BEV

ANGELA BEATTIE

DISCIPLINARY LEAD

My name is Angela and I have been involved in netball for over 20 years as a player, team captain, umpire, mentor and tester and committee member. I love watching the Superleague, getting to as many London Mavericks games as possible and supporting England when they play on home soil.

This is my 4th year as a Bedford committee member but I have spent many years supporting another league within the county as umpiring secretary and vice chair.

I’m excited to support the Bedford and district league committee, particularly the umpiring sub committee and I am sure we will have a successful season supporting teams, players and umpires throughout the district.

ANGELA

HEATHER KENNEDY

COMMITTEE MEMBER

My journey in netball began at age nine, leading me to join the B&DNL in 2016. I became an umpire to address a vital need within the league, ensuring games could be played. While I am selective about the games I officiate, prioritizing matches where I can effectively foster respect and fair play, I am dedicated to contributing my skills to the league’s positive environment.

HEV

LUCY TUTTLE

COMMITTEE MEMBER

I have been a member of the committee for 5 years now as well as playing, umpiring and mentoring within the league. I have recently taken on the position as Junior & Youth Chairperson, with the support of a fantastic sub committee we are ready to hit the ground running and ensure a fun, challenging and supportive playing culture for our young people!
