Gaye had always been active and into sports. As an adult she started playing netball for Ampthill and found her passion. From playing for many years for Ampthill, making lifelong friendships along the way, she moved into umpiring and eventually coaching. Gaye would be out most nights of the week either umpiring or coaching. Her family would often find her asleep on the sofa surrounded by netballs, bibs and coaching notes. In later years Gaye volunteered much of her time to
supporting youth netball. Gaye’s dedication and commitment to netball was evident in the hours she gave to supporting and creating youth development teams. Her passion was contagious and she truly invested in all the young players she supported and coached, the pride she felt for her youth teams was tangible. She was a regular fixture at the side of the court where her supportive and encouraging voice could always be heard.
